Why do we need NAD+?
NAD+ is a critical co-enzyme and is present in every living cell in our bodies & we have known about it since the early 1900s. It is essential in the Krebs Cycle, which turns food molecules into energy, DNA repair and transmitting signals between neurons (including in the brain). It enables or regulates >500 biological pathways and not having enough simply means that you aren’t operating at peak efficiency.
After the age of about 30, our NAD+ production in our bodies decreases by about 50% every 20 years. At 50 you have half the amount you had when you were 30, and 25% when you are 70. Given how important NAD+ is, it is no wonder people start to feel old!
Alcohol, pollution, nicotine and even dehydration cause your NAD+ levels to drop too… preventing your body from operating as efficiently as it should.
