Administration Instructions

You will be administering a solution of NAD+ via injection under your skin. You should aim to do this for 3 days in a row, when you first start, then every other day from then on. This procedure is entirely safe if you follow the instructions carefully every time.

Setting Up the Pen

  1. Remove the pen and a cartridge from the packaging and allow the NAD+ to rest at room temperature for 2-3 minutes
  2. PULL the lid of the pen so it comes off, exposing the clear cartridge holder.
  3. UNSCREW the clear cartridge holder from the base
  4. Press the plunger (if exposed) into the base of the pen with a finger
  5. Take the cartridge and insert into the clear cartridge holder with the silver tip going in first
  6. SCREW the clear cartridge holder with the NAD+ cartridge inside it onto the base FIRMLY
  7. Twist the base of the pen until the dose meter is all the way out
  8. Push the dose meter and watch the plunger move up inside the cartridge holder. Repeat this until the plunger is touching the bung in the bottom of the cartridge and you feel resistance.
  9. Continue with “daily use of the pen”, below.

Daily Use of the Pen

  1. Take a 4mm needle tip from the pack and gently but firmly screw it on to the end of the pen. Do not remove the needle tip cover yet.
  2. Clean the injection site with an alcohol wipe provided in the pack. It is good to select a fatty area, such as the belly, buttock or thigh.
  3. Remove the needle tip covers (there is an inner and an outer one)
  4. Without putting the pen down, twist the base until the pointer lines up with your dose, usually 30 units, which is 0.3ml.
  5. Gently pinch the skin around the injection site to pull it away from the muscle a little (it only needs to be 4mm away so don’t pull hard!)
  6. Place the pen on the injection site and press the pen down to get through the skin. Try hard to keep the pen steady to prevent bruising.
  7. Press the button at the base of the pen (which will now be the furthest point of the pen from your skin). This will depress the plunger and administer the NAD+.
  8. Once the dose is all administered, count down three seconds and then remove the needle.
  9. Replace the outer needle tip cover carefully and unscrew the needle tip with the cover on it.
  10. Replace the VAION+ pen cap and stow the pen back in the fridge.
  11. Dispose of the needle tip in the sharps bin provided.
  12. Make sure to rotate the site of the injection, as repeated injections in the same site can cause damage and “dimpling” of the skin.

Please note that it is unusual but entirely NORMAL to:

  • experience a drop of NAD+ on the skin after the injection
  • have a tiny drop of blood on the skin after the injection
  • experience a small bruise at the site of the injection (this is due to the needle not being kept still during the injection)
  • have a red mark around the site of the injection for a short while after the injection. It will disappear after a little while and is causing you no harm, being well within the accepted guidelines for pH of injectablesIf you are worried about the appearance of the mark, consider injecting in area that is covered by clothing, such as the buttock.

Storage instructions

Keep the pen with the current cartridge of NAD+ between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius (35.6-46.4 Fahrenheit). A fridge is a good place to store them.

Make sure you use your cartridges of NAD+ within their expiry date.
